Selling tickets is separate from sponsorships. Ticket tiers always use a flat platform fee — no matter which listing plan you chose.
Stripe charges a 3% card processing fee on every transaction. This is collected by Stripe and is separate from the CommunitySponsor platform commission.
By default, this fee is absorbed by the host (deducted from your payout). Verified 501(c)(3) nonprofits can choose to pass it to the buyer instead.
Example — $100 ticket (Standard plan)
| Transaction type | Platform fee | Card fee | Who pays |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ticket sale | 5% | +3% | Host (or buyer for nonprofits) |
| Sponsorship — Standard plan | 10% | +3% | Host (or sponsor for nonprofits) |
| Sponsorship — Featured plan | 25% | +3% | Host (or sponsor for nonprofits) |
| Sponsorship — Concierge plan | 50% | +3% | Host (or sponsor for nonprofits) |
| Donation | 0% | +3% | Donor |
Is there any cost to list my event?
No upfront cost. You only pay a commission when a sponsor or ticket buyer completes a payment through the platform.
When does the commission get deducted?
The commission is deducted automatically at checkout. Your payout is the remaining amount after the platform fee — you never need to manually send us anything.
What is the card processing fee?
Stripe charges a 3% card processing fee on every transaction. This is separate from the platform commission and can be absorbed by you (host) or passed to the buyer — nonprofit hosts can choose.
Can I change my listing plan after publishing?
Yes — you can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time from the event editor. The new rate applies to all payments processed after the change.
Why is the ticket fee only 5%?
Ticket buyers are guests, not sponsors. We want to make it easy for hosts to sell tickets at low cost while keeping sponsorship revenue opportunities separate.
Who can pass the platform fee to buyers?
Verified 501(c)(3) nonprofits can choose to have the platform commission added on top of the price (paid by the sponsor or ticket buyer) rather than deducted from their payout.
Is there a contract or minimum commitment?
No contracts, no minimums. Each event is priced independently based on the plan you choose for that event.
